Tribute to Naz Martyn - "The Brightest Star"

Dedicated to the beautiful memory of Naz Martyn

A Tribute to Naz: Our Brightest Star

In the quiet hours of Christmas morning 2025, the world lost a light that no darkness could ever extinguish. My beautiful wife, Naz, passed away in my arms at our home, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a kindness that felt truly divine.

Naz’s life was a testament to the power of the human spirit. Born into a childhood of neglect and poverty, she refused to be defined by her circumstances. With a quiet, iron will, she reshaped her own destiny. She worked tirelessly, often juggling three jobs at once—cleaning, waitressing at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton, and nursing—until she achieved her dream of becoming a full-time nursery nurse. She dedicated her career to the most vulnerable, giving a voice to toddlers with, many with communication barriers. She didn't just teach them; she understood them with a gentleness that was hers alone.

In November 2023, Naz faced her greatest battle: pancreatic cancer. For two years, she endured the unimaginable—exhausting chemotherapy and a grueling 13-hour Whipple surgery. When she was given the "all clear" in November 2024, we rejoiced, only for the disease to return with a vengeance just two months later.

Yet, even in the face of this cruelty, Naz’s positivity rivaled that of the Gods. She never became bitter. Instead, she turned her pain into purpose. Together, we raised thousands of pounds for Maggie’s Manchester, braving fire walks, 5km treks, and even jumping from planes. She fought not just for her own life, but to ensure others wouldn't have to walk their path alone.

Away from her battles, Naz was a "social butterfly" who found pure joy in the simple things. She loved the peace of her gardens, the crisp air on walks with her loyal dogs, Jack and Lacey, music  and the warmth of a good conversation.

She was an angel who had fallen from heaven, so humble she didn't even realize her own divinity. Everyone and everything that came into contact with her was significantly improved simply by knowing her.

Her name means "The Brightest Star," and she lived up to that meaning every single day. While she is no longer by my side, I know that when I look up at the night sky, the brightest light I see will be her—watching over us, free from pain, and shining with the same love she gave so freely to the world.

Rest now, my beautiful Naz. You changed my life, and you changed the world.
